I have been trading on the betting exchanges for over 2 year now and make a pretty good profit each month. Over the years I have refined my strategy to suit my style of trading. I started off with just me and the computer but as my bank increased I realised I needed more betting exchange software tools and automatic trading tools to take my trading to a new level.
In this section I aim to help you decide which software and betting exchange bots to use as there are many different packages out there.
The
two software programs I now use are
Sports Trading Workstation and X-Bot.
I have been using the STW for about 3 months and started off as one
of their beta testers, giving them feedback about what works and what
doesn't until eventually they came up with a fantastic trading tool!
If you are looking to get in and out of the market in a hurry, ie back at 3.1 then lay again at 3.05 etc then STW can do that for you. It will also monitor all your current open positions across all markets, show your profit and loss on each race, able you to close one or all your positions for a specific overall profit etc etc....
I cant recommend this product any more highly, it has changed the way I trade. I do not use the betfair interface any more, I just trade through the STW.
STW have recently added a coupon section to the software which allows you to dutch, hedge, or lay any number of selections in any given race and all with the click of a button.

If you are serious about trading, I urge you to test out the software for at least one month, if you dont get on with it then just stop subscribing.
I also use the X-Bot software which is fairly new. Once you have got the hang of it and worked out which settings to use, you can pre-program it and leave it alone on another computer to do your trading for you. If you go to their website you can view a video of the x-bot trading.
X-Bot is my recommendation for automated trading, I wouldn't use this if I was just trading in the live market, I would use STW.
I have also used Autobet software which is good for one-click trading and watching the prices on the market but to be honest, it is way behind STW in terms of what it can do. The other draw back is, for the full version you have to pay up front without trial testing it first, and if you dont like it, you cant get a refund.
Autobet do however have PriceIt which will enable you to watch the live betfair market and compare it with the track prices for you to judge which way the market is going to go.
Odds Extractor is a great tool for anaylising the betfair data in the live markets. Once you have been trading for a while, it is useful to know when a price is going to shorten or drift. You can set this software up to extract all the data from any given race directly into an Excel spreadsheet and then sort the data how ever you require.
