I’ve been interested in horse racing for many, many years. Nothing finer than a day at the races. I’m not employed directly by the industry although have been fortunate enough to taste a little success as an owner. As to experience – just a keen interest in the racing/gambling arena and a desire to “keep learning.” The advent of the betting exchanges have been a huge boom in that area. Well they are trading exchanges I guess – the ability to back and lay on just about any sport and do that in running gives tremendous scope and opportunity to lock in a guaranteed profit regardless of the result. A potential goldmine for the disciplined “punter.”
As the title suggests – it’s all about place only betting using the exchanges. Betfair in particular. It’s now possible to back a horse just to place with just a single bet. This is as opposed to each-way betting which is of course two bets.
The ebook contains information on the workings of betting exchanges, how they differ from traditional bookmakers, how to calculate liabilities, how to place a bet etc as well as the system itself. I wanted to make it as transparent as possible and take away the “mystery” of the exchanges for those who may purchase the ebook but not be familiar with how exchanges work. So as well as the system they get a “crash course” in betting exchange mechanics.
Is it possible to make money with the ebook? Yes it is. But because this is horse racing, nothing is guaranteed. The faller at the last when a distance clear has hurt us all and there’s nothing we can do about it!
Are there any specific staking plans you would advise using with the Place Betting System?
I do suggest a particular staking plan in the ebook which (without giving too much away) involves betting a little more on when winning and cutting back when on the inevitable losing runs we all experience from time to time.
Staking is such an emotive area with many people having different opinions and preferences. Ultimately, it’s up to the individual to find whatever works best for them.

Why don’t you charge for them?
Interesting question. I’ve never really wanted to I guess. Rather than make a charge I have instead given away free in exchange for a person’s email address and permission to market to them later via a 100% opt-in mailing list if anything “interesting” come along like a free bet offer, system and similar. Also to use back-end selling on the respective download pages and links in the ebooks themselves. I’d imagine most marketers are familiar with such an approach.
It’s a “win-win” thing.
Can you offer any advice, tips or secrets to making money on the betting exchanges or betting in general?
Use the exchanges to trade. The range of sports and other markets to bet on is huge. Find one (or more) you have knowledge of and then trade a position, particularly in running. As the odds can fluctuate so much look for opportunities to lay and back (or back and lay) to lock a guaranteed profit.
For example you could pick a cricket test match and lay the draw just before the first ball of the first inning. Keep an eye on the market “in running” and wait for a point in the game where the odds for a draw become greater than the odds at which you placed your lay bet (after a couple of early wickets perhaps). Then back the draw at the higher odds using the correct stake and you’re guaranteed a profit regardless.
Only your imagination limits possibilities on the exchanges.
But overall - have discipline. Don’t go for the “big hit” or chase losses and be happy with a gradual growth of your betting bank. And, of course, never, ever bet with money you cannot afford to lose.
